Gangtok Rural (ICDS) celebrates closing ceremony of Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024

Gangtok, September 28 (IPR): With the month long programme being celebrated as Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024, Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) under the Women and Child Development Department, Gangtok Rural (ICDS) celebrated the closing ceremony at Penlong Panchayat Bhawan, today.
The programme had the presence of Mr Pempa Tshering Bhutia, Panchayat, Penlong Ward, as the Chief Guest, Ms Dorjee Doma Bhutia, Deputy Director, Women and Child Development Department, Mingma Tshering Lepcha, Panchayat Member, Pachey Ward, Ms Yozna Rana, Nutritionist, Norsang Tamang, Supervisor and Anganwadi workers.
The theme for the Rastriya POSHAN Maah 2024 was Anemia, Growth Monitoring, Complementary Feeding, Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi, Use of Technology for better governance.
Addressing the programme, Mr Pempa Tshering Bhutia, appreciated the Anganwadi workers for their unwavering efforts in making the state free of malnutrition.
Ms Dorjee Doma, in her address, welcomed the Panchayats and Anganwadi workers in the closing ceremony of 7th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2024 for the zonal level.
The integrated nutrition support programme was started in 2018 with the initiation by Mr Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, India.
The primary aim was to follow nutrition systems strengthening approach for improving maternal and child undernutrition, and to also focus on strengthening implementation bottlenecks at all levels.
Additionally, the purpose was to promote nutrition awareness and to drive action towards building a healthier state.
Ms Yozna Rana, in her address, highlighted the importance of healthy eating and sensitised people about the significance of nutrition in leading a disease free life.
Furthermore, she transmitted knowledge to tackle with malnutrition and explained the significance of balanced diets.
In addition to the programme, a competition also took place, where Anganwadi workers came up with healthy food recipes made with Millets.
