Folk Tales Narration Celebrates Indigenous Oral Traditions at Creative Hub 2.0, Jorethang
Namchi, 20 January (IPR): Folk Tales Narration programme was organised at the Creative Hub 2.0, Green Park, Jorethang, highlighting the rich oral heritage of the Scheduled Caste and Bhutia communities.
Representing the Bhutia Kayrab Yargay Tshokpo (BKYT), Mr Kinchok Zangpoo Bhutia addressed the gathering and spoke on the cultural and historical significance of Gunsang Tenpo folk songs and traditional narratives, underlining their enduring relevance in preserving community identity.
Chairperson of Sikkim Scheduled Caste Welfare Board Mr Shekhar Sewa, briefed the audience on Nawmati Baja, elaborating on its importance in traditional ceremonies and its role in strengthening social and cultural bonds within the community.
The programme was further enlivened by a melodious flute performance by Mr Dawa Yonzon, which captivated the audience and added a soulful dimension to the cultural evening.
Advisor to the Information and Public Relations Department Mr S B Mangmoo, felicitated the representatives with khadas and flower bouquets in appreciation of their contributions.
The event aimed to preserve and promote indigenous folk traditions while providing a meaningful platform for community representatives to share their cultural heritage with a wider audience.
