Date: 26-Jun-2025
Pakyong, June 26 (IPR):
The Fisheries Department, under the supervision of District Fisheries Development Officer (DFDO) Mrs Gouri Mukhia and Assistant Engineer Mr Ashok Pradhan, conducted a detailed inspection of ongoing fish farm construction works at Makaibari, Rongli, and Arangthang, Pachak.
The construction is being undertaken as part of the Environment Management Plan (EMP) and is funded by Greenko Group—formerly Gati Infra Pvt. Ltd.—along with Madhya Bharat Power Corporation Ltd. During the site inspection, DFDO and officials held discussions with representatives of Greenko Group, including General Manager Mr Surendra Singh, Assistant General Manager Mr RK Poddar, and Senior Manager Mr GB Chettri, to review progress and deliberate on further development plans.
The inspecting officials noted that the work is progressing in line with technical specifications, and emphasised the need to maintain construction standards and environmental compliance throughout the execution of the project.
In a parallel activity, DFDO and field functionaries, comprising the Block Officer, Mr Yogesh Dangal, Fisheries Guards, Assistant Fisheries Guards and Office Assistant cum farm Incharge Mr Anurag Rai, conducted fish sampling and harvest operations at the Rorathang Fish Farm. The harvest formed part of routine aquaculture practices aimed at assessing growth performance and market readiness.
The fish sampling included species such as Oreochromis mossambicus (Tilapia) and Danio rerio (Zebra Fish), reared in well-maintained grow-out tanks under controlled environmental conditions. The operation involved partial draining of tanks followed by manual netting, all under the close supervision of farm management and technical staff. The procedure was executed carefully to minimise stress on the fish and ensure quality standards were upheld.
The coordinated efforts aims to improve fish farming using scientific methods to boost incomes in the district.
