First Phase of Administration at the Doorstep Initiative in Dzongu Concludes
Mangan, December 17 (IPR): The first phase of Administration at the Doorstep 2025, an outreach initiative of the Block Administrative Centre (BAC) Dzongu, concluded successfully at Government Primary School, Burfok, Dzongu today. The initiative was organised in collaboration with the SDM Office, Dzongu, and various line departments, with the aim of delivering essential public services directly to residents of remote areas.
Inspired by the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr Prem Singh Tamang, the initiative is being implemented under the guidance of the Minister for Forest and Environment–cum–Area MLA, Dzongu, Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, to promote equitable and inclusive development across the constituency.
The programme was graced by Minister Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha as the Chief Guest. Also present were Chairperson, Horticulture Ms Ongkit Lepcha, Up-Adhakshya Ms Sonam Kipa Bhutia, SDM Dzongu Mr Gideon Lepcha, BDO Dzongu Dr Mahindra Tamang, Deputy Director ICDS Mr Netuk Lepcha, OSDs, Zilla and Gram Panchayat members of Lingdong Barfok GPU, and officials of concerned line departments.
Briefing the gathering, BDO Dzongu Dr Mahindra Tamang highlighted the objective of the initiative in bridging the gap between the administration and the public by providing door-to-door services in remote settlements. He acknowledged the support of all collaborating departments and stated that the second phase would be undertaken with renewed vigour. He also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Mr Prem Singh Tamang for his continued support.
As part of the programme, SHO Mangan Mr Prashant Rai sensitised participants on cybercrime and online fraud, cautioning against fake banking messages, unknown callers and online gambling sites, and emphasised the importance of verifying information and mentioned the cybercrime helpline number 1930.
CHO (MLHP), Lingdong HWCSC, Ms Sonamkit Lepcha also spoke on health awareness, particularly the risks of high blood pressure during cold weather, preventive measures, encouraged TB screening, and briefed the public on Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and its documentation requirements.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha reiterated the significance of the initiative in easing access to government services for people residing in far-flung areas, where visiting offices often requires an entire day of travel. He congratulated the block administration for the successful conduct of the programme and expressed hope for continued inter-departmental collaboration and sustained outreach.
A wide range of services were provided during the programme, including Schedule Tribe Certificate, Primitive Tribe Certificate, Income Certificate, Employment card(renewal and upgradation), Marriage Certificate, Unmarried Certificate, NOC, Aadhar Card enrollment, Land Parcha, COI attestation, Marking Order (Forest), Homestay/ Hotel registration, Ration Card Renewal and upgradation, Aabha ID Card generation, trade licence issuance, Government Social Society Scheme enrollment and Bank receipt. Passport photo facilities were also arranged for public convenience. The State Bank of Sikkim, BAC Passingdang Branch, facilitated on-site Bank Receipt services.
The programme also saw the distribution of issued documents by the Minister. The overall figure of documents issued stands at:
132 Schedule Tribe Certificate, 143 Primitive Tribe Certificate, 27 Income Certificate, 9 employment card and 68 renewal, 3 Marriage Certificate, 35 Marking Order, 31 Trade licence NOC, 1 Chain Saw Machine NOC, 22 Aabha ID Card, 9 Trade Licence, 372 BR, 23 Unmarried Certificate.
