Final training for Officers appointed for Postal Ballot Voting in General Elections 2024
Gangtok, April 1 (IPR): The Final Training session of Polling Officers designated for Postal Ballot Voting in the Facilitation Centre and Postal Voting Centres was conducted here at SCERT Hall near Burtuk Helipad, today.
The training was attended by Mr Rohan Agawane Additional District Collector (ADC) Gangtok, Mr GL Meena SDM (HQ) Gangtok, Mr Suresh Rai SDM Rabdang, Mr Samdesh Moktan Additional Director State Election Commission, Mr Sonam Wongyal Lepcha, DPO cum Nodal Officer for training management team and Disaster Management Department, Mr Abhijit Patil Assistant Collector Gangtok.
Mr Rohan Agawane ADC Gangtok, in his address explained the process of postal ballot in the Facilitation Centre and Postal Voting Centre (PVCs). He also gave detailed information on the composition of the Facilitation Centre and their roles on poll day.
The ADC gave a series of demonstrations on Annexure 5, Annexure 6, and the contents of postal ballot papers through a PowerPoint presentation.
Mr Samdesh Moktan Additional Director of State Election Commission, gave a theoretical class aimed at equipping Polling Officers with essential knowledge and insights into the postal ballot voting processes for the upcoming elections.
Mr Suresh Rai SDM Rabdang, gave a brief on postal ballot paper and its contents. He illustrated different categories of postal ballot papers for General Election 2024. In his concluding remarks, he gave a detailed scenario of postal ballot voting day.
It may be mentioned that the postal ballot voting for Government employees will take place from 9th April 2024 to April 14, 2024 at three venues which are DIET College at Burtuk, Paljor Statidum, and Gangtok Municipal Corporation Hall.
