Final preparatory meeting and visit for the upcoming Bum Chu Festival
Gyalshing,February 26(IPR):The final preparatory meeting and site visit of the upcoming holy annual Bum Chu event was undertaken at Tashiding Monastery today, led by Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, District Collector, Gyalshing. The meeting was attended by Mr Tshering Sherpa SP Gyalshing,Mr Megnath Routh Dy Commandant 72nd Battilion SSB Yuksam,Dr Namgay Bhutia CMO District Hospital Gyalshing,Mr CS Limboo SDM Yuksam Sub- Division, Ms Geeta Gurung BDO Chongrang Block,Mr Biren Gurung Zilla Member Kongri-Labdang TC,Mr Namgyal Bhutia JE Power(Tashiding),Mr Bhanu Chettri JE PHED (Tashiding),Mr Gyatso Bhutia Panchayat Member Chogyal Lhakhang Ward Tashiding, Officer -in- Charge Fire & Emergency Services Gyalshing,esteemed Monks(Lamas),members of Tashiding Monastery,Health Workers of Tashiding PHC,and other stakeholders.
The primary objective of the meeting and site visit was to assess the final stages of preparation for the Bum Chu festival, which is scheduled for March 2-3, 2026.
District Collector Gyalshing Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, in his address, called for full cooperation from all officials and organisers. He conducted a comprehensive review of essential arrangements, including electricity, water supply, medical and fire response teams, the public address system, traffic control, crowd management, coupon issuance for devotees, standardised service rates for visitors, waste disposal, and sanitation.
Earlier, the concerned ward Panchayat,Mr Gyatso Bhutia, briefed the District Collector and SP Gyalshing on the progress made following the directives of the initial preparatory meeting. He provided updates on measures taken for traffic and parking management, water and electricity supply, shuttle services, availability of makeshift tents, and other necessary facilities for devotees. Expressing gratitude on behalf of the monastery, he acknowledged the support of district officials in facilitating a smooth and well-organised festival.
Following the meeting, the team conducted a thorough inspection of the festival site. All arrangements were reviewed, and clear instructions were issued to expedite final preparations, ensuring that no aspect was overlooked in the lead-up to the festival.
Later,DC Gyalshing and team also visited Govt SSS Tashiding and the Boys Hostel,on account of minor damages reported,caused due to an earthquake that occured on the day(26.02.2026).
DC Gyalshing assured the school faculty of requisite support from the District Administration if any severe damages are caused due to the frequent earthquakes.
