Field Day Celebrated Under “Mission Revival of Barren Land – Connect to Earth” at Pachey Samsing.
Pakyong, September 12(IPR): In a significant stride toward ecological restoration and sustainable agriculture, the Agriculture & Horticulture Department of Rangpo Sub-division, under Pakyong District, successfully organised a Field Day at the Sweat Contribution Centre, Pachey Samsing. This initiative is part of the broader and visionary campaign titled “Mission Revival of Barren Land – Connect to Earth”, aimed at rejuvenating unproductive lands through community-driven efforts.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including ADC (Development), RDD, Mr Robin Sewa, Deputy Director, Horticulture Department, Mr JN Sharma, Deputy Directors of the Agriculture Department, Mrs Rebecca Gurung and Mrs Sangita Basnett, and ADO, Pakyong Mr Gagan Gurung. Field functionaries from the Agriculture & Horticulture departments across Rangpo Sub-division were also in attendance.
A key highlight of the day was the intercultural operation (weeding) in Finger Millet and Turmeric crops—both known for their resilience and adaptability to the region’s agro-climatic conditions. These activities symbolise the mission’s commitment to improving soil fertility, enhancing biodiversity, and fostering climate-resilient farming practices.
Senior officials emphasised the importance of collective action and grassroots participation in restoring the ecological balance and ensuring long-term sustainability. The initiative is not only about agriculture but also about reconnecting communities to the Earth through sustainable means.
The event concluded with commitment from all stakeholders and departments to actively support and advance the mission. With such collaborative efforts, Pakyong is poised to become a model for ecological regeneration and sustainable rural development in the region.
