Empowering Mothers : SASY cheques distributed at Ringhim Rikzing Choeling Gumpa premises Mangan
Mangan, September 17(IPR): The Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department, Mangan, organised a programme for the distribution of cheques under the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana (SASY) at Ringhim Rikzing Choeling Gumpa, Mangan, today.
The event was graced by Advisor, Ecclesiastical Affairs Department, Mr Chewong Bhutia, as the chief guest and CLC president 32-Sangha, Mr Pintsok Palzang, as the guest of honour.
The welcome speech was delivered by the CLC General Secretary, Mr Chultim Bhutia, who warmly greeted the gathering and highlighted the significance of the programme in empowering mothers and strengthening communities through the Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana (SASY).
Social Welfare Inspector, Mr Ongdup Bhutia, highlighted the objectives of the programme and shared that the Chief Minister, Mr Prem Singh Tamang chose this day for SASY distribution as it marks the birthday of Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi and the commencement of the Sewa Pakhwada to be observed throughout the country from 17th September to 2nd October, 2025.
Advisor, Mr Chewong Bhutia, in his address, expressed gratitude to the government for introducing such a thoughtful initiative aimed at supporting and uplifting the Aamas, bringing joy and relief to their lives. He further emphasised that the cheques provided under the scheme is handed directly to the Aamas, ensuring that the intended beneficiaries receive the full benefit of the programme.
A total of 161 beneficiaries were covered under the programme at Ringhim Gumpa.
Also present at the event were Inspectors from the Ecclesiastical Affairs Department, Gangtok, Mr Tashi Pintso Bhutia and Mr Rikzing Ongpu Lepcha, along with the executive bodies and members of CLC 32-Sangha, staff from the organising department and the beneficiaries.
