Electoral Roll Observer Reviews Progress of SIR Exercise in Pakyong District
Pakyong, August 12 (IPR): Electoral Roll Observer for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) cum Secretary, Rural Development Department, Government of Sikkim, Mr Anil Raj Rai, conducted a second round of inspections across Pakyong district today to review the progress of the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls.
District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-District Collector, Pakyong, Ms Pari Bishnoi, briefed Mr Rai on the progress of the SIR exercise and the work being undertaken across the district.
The inspection commenced with a visit to the office of the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of 21-Gnathang Machong Assembly Constituency. He visited Part Nos. 1 to 9 and 12 and interacted with the ERO-cum-SDM, Pakyong. He reviewed the progress of the revision exercise and examined the status reports about the work undertaken.
He subsequently inspected the office of the ERO of 22-Namcheybung Assembly Constituency. He visited Part No. 12, where he took stock of the progress of revision work and held discussions with the ERO-cum-SDM (Headquarters), Pakyong.
The Observer thereafter visited Part No. 8, 12 and 18 under 19-Rhenock Assembly Constituency and reviewed the progress of the work, including issues related to pending uploads and other aspects of the revision process.
He also visited the office of Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO)-cum-Block Development Officer (BDO) Pakyong for 32-Sangha Assembly Constituency.
During the inspections, Mr Rai assessed the progress of the SIR exercise, reviewed the work being carried out by the officials concerned and took stock of pending matters requiring attention.
The inspection aimed to ensure the smooth and timely implementation of the SIR exercise in accordance with the prescribed guidelines and procedures, while maintaining accuracy and transparency in the electoral roll revision process.
