Electoral Roll Observer Conducts First Official Visit to Review SIR Progress in Pakyong District
Pakyong, July 16 (IPR): Secretary, Rural Development Department cum Electoral Roll Observer for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Mr Anil Raj Rai, conducted his first official visit to Pakyong District today to review the progress of the electoral roll revision and assess the preparedness of the district election machinery for the ensuing hearing process.
During his visit to the District Administrative Centre, Pakyong, the Electoral Roll Observer reviewed the ongoing SIR activities and emphasised the importance of effective coordination among Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He stressed that Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) should work with utmost responsibility that has been entrusted to them and ensure due diligence throughout the revision process.
Highlighting the importance of public awareness, the Observer encouraged officials to enrich themselves through the process and suggested the creation of digital videos and social media reels for wider dissemination of information, while advising on the organising walkathons as part of voter awareness initiatives.
Additionally, District Election Officer Pakyong cum District Collector, Ms Pari Bishnoi presented a detailed overview of the district’s Special Intensive Revision data and the overall progress of the revision exercise. She also apprised the Observer on the various activities being undertaken across the district for awareness, including information on the constituency-wise progress report.
Informing that Phase II of the SIR process for claims and objections, DEO advised the EROs to work in close coordination and handle the proceedings with sensitivity. She then urged the officers to dispose of cases on the same day wherever possible and emphasised the need to carefully examine circumstantial documents in cases requiring additional verification.
She further encouraged the officers to regularly share insights from the hearing process and highlight issues emerging from different regions to facilitate timely resolution and ensure uniformity in decision-making.
Through video conferencing, Electoral Registration Officers from Rangpo And Rongli also joined the meeting and informed that notices relating to unmapped and logical anomalies had been issued and distributed and that the hearing process had commenced from today.
The meeting was attended by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of the district; District Planning Officer cum Liason Officer for Observer for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Mr Sonam Zangpo Bhutia; AD/IT and officials from the Election Department.
