Election Observers and DEO Soreng hold meetings with the Political parties

Soreng, April 2 (IPR): As per procedures prescribed by ECI, a meeting with the contesting candidates under Soreng Distt for General Elections 2024 was held today at the conference hall, DAC.
The meeting was convened by Ms Yishey D Yongda, DEO cum DC Soreng and had the presence of Ms Neena Sharma, IAS General Observer (GO) and Mr. Srikanth N, Expenditure Observer (EO). Also in attendance were Mr Nahkul Pradhan, SP Soreng, Mr Dhiraj Subedi, Deputy DEO cum RO, Mr. Gaayas Pega, ADC (Development), Mr. DR Bista, SDM (HQ), Mr Sunny Kharel, RO, Mr. Sameer Pradhan, SDPO Soreng, along with Election Nodal Officers.
At the outset, the DEO presented an extensive overview of the district’s preparedness for the upcoming elections, covering various topics like Model Code of Conduct and order enforced under 144 CrPC, details of Polling Stations, Strong Room arrangements, provision of Electronic Voting Machines - AC and PC wise, Poll Personnel and their capacity building, Postal Ballot and Home Voting, regular manpower training, MCMC, Election expenditure management and monitoring. Additionally, she also laid down the legal provisions against violations of MCC and urged for strict compliance by soliciting every candidate’s cooperation and support.
Similarly, she also highlighted on the various IT interventions made by the Commission this time viz. SAKSHAM App, C-Vigil App, Know Your Candidate (KYC) App. She also added that any complaint may also be reported through the 24X7 District Helpline numbers or through emails to the DEO. She assured that all legitimate complaints would be verified and handled as per the ECI guidelines.
SP Soreng elaborated on the District’s Law and Order arrangements designed to ensure a peaceful and incident- free elections further assuring that the security measures have been rationalized as per the ECI norms.
Mr. Rakesh Sharma, Nodal Officer/Expenditure Monitoring Committee cum CPAO also explained the statutory and non-statutory accounting provisions for the candidate, the expenditure agents and the assistance expenditure agents. He mentioned the dates of account reconciliation (April 8, April 12 and April 16) between the EMC team and Expenditure team of Political parties.
Ms Neena Sharma (GO) acknowledged the efforts made by the DEO and her team to ensure and facilitate one of the largest democratic events in the district and urged for equal support from the political parties for successful elections. She also advised them to provide basic and related information to their respective Polling and Counting agents for seamless activities during the polls. She assured that all necessary assistance will be provided when contacted to the electoral officials. She further urged to maintain the rudimentary protocols of elections and extended her best wishes to all the candidates.
