ECI Director Reviews Progress of Special Intensive Revision in Sikkim

Date: 01-Jun-2026
Gangtok, June 1 (IPR): Director, Election Commission of India (ECI), Ms Shubhra Saxena, IAS, who is on an official visit to Sikkim from May 31 to June 4, 2026, reviewed the preparedness and progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the State during a meeting held at the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Gangtok, today.
During the review, the Director assessed the status of Enumeration Form distribution, elector verification, and other activities being carried out under SIR 2026 across the State. Emphasising the importance of maintaining inclusive and accurate electoral rolls, she directed officials to ensure that all eligible electors are adequately covered during the revision process.
Ms Saxena stressed that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) must actively assist electors in filling up Enumeration Forms and uploading the required details through the ECINET portal. She reiterated that forms should not be left with electors without proper guidance and that BLOs must facilitate the process wherever assistance is required to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll.
The meeting also discussed issues relating to the verification and mapping of electors whose records may not be readily traceable in earlier electoral rolls. Officials were advised to adopt appropriate verification procedures and make use of available records to ensure accurate identification and enrolment of eligible electors.
Further, BLOs were instructed to log in to the ECINET portal using their designated credentials for carrying out Enumeration Form-related activities, verification, and timely updation of elector details. The Director underscored the need for meticulous field-level verification and strict adherence to the timelines prescribed by the Election Commission of India for the successful completion of the Special Intensive Revision.
The meeting was attended by Chief Electoral Officer Mr Raj Kumar Yadav, IAS, senior officials of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, District Election Officers and BLOs.
