Dzongu Block Organises Swachhata Safai Mitra Shivir under Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025
BAC, Passingdang (25th September 2025): As part of the fortnight-long observance of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2025, Dzongu Block successfully conducted a special health outreach programme titled “Swachhata Safai Mitra Shivir” dedicated to the sanitation workforce engaged in maintaining public hygiene and cleanliness across the block.
The camp was organised simultaneously at two venues-Hee Gyathang GPK for Lower Dzongu and Passingdang PHC for Upper Dzongu to ensure maximum coverage and convenience for the participants. Sanitation workers serving in the Public Works Department, Schools, Block Administrative Centre, and Gram Panchayat Kendras availed of comprehensive health check-ups during the Shivir. The examinations included Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening, Tuberculosis testing, and other routine diagnostics, aimed at safeguarding the health and well-being of these frontline contributors to public cleanliness.
The medical teams, led by Dr. Tshering Diki Lepcha of Hee Gyathang PHC and Dr. Pemkit Lepcha along with their respective staff, rendered dedicated service during the camp. In addition to health check-ups, eligible sanitation workers were also extended benefits of welfare provisions such as Individual Household Latrines (IHHL) under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin, reaffirming the government’s commitment to dignity, welfare, and improved living conditions for sanitation workers.
The initiative underscored the Government of Sikkim’s holistic approach under Swachhata Hi Sewa 2025 — where health, hygiene, and human dignity are integrated into the vision of a cleaner and more sustainable society.
