District-level closing programme of Poshan Pakhwada held at Dzongu BAC
Mangan, April 23: The District Level closing programme of Poshan Pakhwada was successfully conducted today at Passingdang BAC, marking the culmination of a series of nutrition-focused activities carried out across the district.
The programme was graced by Dr. Mahendra Tamang, BDO Dzongu as the Chief Guest.
The event witnessed active participation from SHG members, local residents, youth, Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Supervisors, along with officials, including the District Coordinator, Block Coordinator, DD-cum-CDPO Mangan Ms. Sonam Lhaden Lachungpa, and DD-cum-CDPO Dzongu Mr. Netuk Lepcha.
The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Dawa Diki Sherpa, ICDS Supervisor, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries and participants.
At the outset, CDPO Dzongu Mr Netuk Lepcha highlighted the significance of the Poshan Pakhwada fortnight and elaborated on this year’s theme, emphasizing the importance of community participation in achieving better nutrition outcomes.
DD-cum-CDPO Mangan Ms. Sonam Lhaden Lachungpa spoke on the integration of nutrition with early childhood education through Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi, and also shed light on key initiatives such as the Poshan Tracker (FRS) and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
BDO Dzongu Dr. Mahendra Tamang, in his address, stressed the importance of Swachh Bharat, focusing on waste management and segregation, and encouraged collective efforts towards building a healthy, safe, and clean Dzongu.
The Resource Person, Shri Ramesh Chettri, BPM, SRLM Dzongu, spoke on the objectives and impact of Poshan Pakhwada, while District Coordinator Shri Santosh Rai elaborated on digital initiatives such as ABHA, APAAR, and the use of FRS in strengthening service delivery.
The programme also featured a recipe competition and an exhibition of local organic vegetables, promoting the use of nutritious, locally available food.
Winners of the competition were felicitated with gifts.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Nutrition Inspector Mr Pem Tshering Tamang, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, and organisers for making the event a success.
