Furthermore, Mrs Subba shed light on the scholarship opportunities provided by the Social Welfare Department, which caters to students from diverse communities, including Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Economically Backward Classes (EBC).
She emphasised the funding ratio of 90:10 for these scholarships and highlighted central sector schemes that are fully funded by the government, such as scholarships for minorities and national overseas scholarships.
Mrs Sunita Dahal, in her opening address, emphasised the importance of creating awareness among the Heads of Institutions (HOIs) and Institute Nodal Officers (INOs) regarding the various scholarship opportunities available to students.
She emphasised the need for a smooth application process and addressed any potential technical challenges that may arise during the scholarship application process.
A key focus of the program was to inform the attendees about the National Scholarships Portal (NSP), which serves as a centralised platform for students to apply for scholarships from a wide range of sources.
Mrs Dahal elaborated on the significance of the NSP and encouraged the educational institutions to actively participate in facilitating the scholarship application process for their students.
The program also included a session by the Assistant Director of the IT Cell, Ms Srijana Karkidoli, who provided valuable insights into the One Time Registration (OTR) process on the NSP. She emphasised the importance of Aadhaar-based authentication and guided the attendees on the necessary steps to complete the registration process effectively.
The event aimed to empower educational institutions to play an active role in facilitating scholarship opportunities for deserving students. The importance of timely application submission and adherence to guidelines was reiterated, ensuring that scholarships reach those in need and contribute to overall development.
The session ended with a Q&A session, where participants addressed their questions and clarified doubts regarding the scholarship schemes and the registration process.
Participants were also encouraged to visit the online national scholarship portal at www.scholarships.gov.in for more information and to access the various scholarship opportunities available.
