District-Level Preparations Underway for National Unity Day Observance in Namchi
Namchi, 5 November (IPR): A meeting of the District Core Committee, constituted for organising the District Level Padhyatras to mark National Unity Day and to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, was convened today at the District Administrative Centre, Namchi.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Sikkim Youth Skills Development Board, Mr Basant Yonzon, APS to HCM Namchi Mr Bishnu Prasad Sharma, SDM (HQ) Mr Nim Pintso Bhutia, ASP Namchi Mr Bikash Tewari, CEO Education Mr Suraj Rai, My Bharat Programme Officer, Mr BS Mallik, DIO IPR Namchi Ms Deepti Pradhan, MEO Namchi Mr Rajeev Rai and other officials from various departments.
During the meeting, Mr Nim Pintso Bhutia, SDM (HQ), highlighted the importance of observing National Unity Day to promote the ideals of unity, integrity, and national integration envisioned by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
He informed the members that a series of activities has been scheduled to take place from 31 October to 25 November as part of the observance. He further urged all stakeholders to participate actively and encouraged registration through the MYBharat.gov.in portal to enrol in the activities.
The committee deliberated on the detailed plan for the forthcoming programmes, focusing on logistics, route arrangements, inter-departmental coordination, and overall preparedness to ensure the smooth conduct of all events.
It was decided that a Cleanliness Drive would be organised on 12 November, followed by the Rashtriya Ekta Padhyatra on 15 November. Additionally, cultural performances and a painting competition centred on the theme of national unity will be held during the celebration period.
The committee also discussed strategies to enhance community involvement by engaging students, ex-servicemen, sportspersons, local residents, NSS, and NCC volunteers.
