District-Level Committee meeting on Disability conducted at Mangan
Mangan, February 06 (IPR): A District-Level Committee meeting on Disability was held in the chamber of DC Mangan, today.
Chaired by Mr Anant Jain (IAS) DC Mangan, the quarterly meeting concentrated on implementing and enforcing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, in the district.
The district level committee was formed in the meeting which consists of

Psychiatrist District Hospital - Member
Public Prosecutor - Member
Mr Pema Loday Lepcha - Member ( SIKKIM LEPCHA YOUTH ASSOCIATION Dzongu Branch )
Ms Mingma Lhamu Bhutia - Member (Social Activist )
Ms Choden Bhutia - Member (Social Welfare Officer )
The meeting also had the presence of Mr Pema Wangchen Namkarpa ADM Mangan and officals from Women & Child Development Department.
The meeting discussed various measures to provide accessibility and support to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). The committee recognised potential obstacles and considered various procedure for rehabilitation and empowerment to PwDs.
The committee also promoted awareness
to encourage understanding and sensitivity towards disabilities, which foster an inclusive environment that values the diverse experiences and needs of individuals with disabilities. This initiative aims to educate and inform others, breaking down misconceptions and encouraging empathy.
Earlier, Ms Choden Bhutia Social Welfare Officer gave a presentation on the constitution of district level committee on disabilities, types of disabilities, pension schemes for PwDs,Unique Disability Identity card, district data on PwDs and services provided to PwDs under Women & Child Development Department.
