Pakyong, February 28 (IPR): Following a fire incident that occurred on February 27 at the residence of Mr Hem Nath Nawbag in Upper Khamdong Ward under Aritar GPU, the District Administrative Centre, Pakyong, promptly deputed a team to inspect the affected site and evaluate the extent of the damage caused.
The blaze completely destroyed the residential structure, reducing the house to ashes and resulting in the loss of important documents, household assets, and personal belongings. The affected family was left without shelter or essential possessions.
A joint team comprising Panchayat representatives, SDM Rongli Mr Suren Kumar Pradhan, BDO Rhenock Mr SK Dhungana, along with officials from the Disaster Management Team, Police Department, and Fire Department, visited the location. The team carried out a detailed assessment of the damages and interacted with the family members to understand their immediate needs and concerns.
In accordance with the norms of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), ex gratia assistance was disbursed to the affected family on the spot to provide immediate financial relief by SDM Rongli Mr Suren Kumar Pradhan.
As the inspection confirmed that the fire had completely gutted the house, leaving the family without any recoverable belongings, the Pakyong District Administration also extended relief materials under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. These materials were handed over today by SDM (HQ) Mr Thendup Lepcha to support the family during this period of hardship.
The officials assured the family that necessary support and follow-up assistance would continue to be provided to help them recover and rebuild after the unfortunate incident.
