District Panchayat Sammelan on VB-G RAM-G Held in Mangan
Mangan, August 17 (IPR): The District Panchayat Sammelan under the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM-G) was held at the Conference Hall, Mangan District Zilla Panchayat Bhawan, today.
Chief Guest and Zilla Adhakshya, Mangan District Zilla Panchayat, urged participants to make meaningful use of the orientation and work towards people-centric, data-driven, convergent and sustainable planning for Viksit Bharat. He stressed the need for each Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) to develop a vision based on its local needs and priorities, with greater participation of women and youth.
The resource persons from the Rural Development Department spoke on various aspects of VB-G RAM-G, including the roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, worker entitlements, the Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Card, GIS-enabled and data-driven Gram Panchayat planning, the workflow for planning and execution of works, convergence, and proper documentation. They also highlighted the four thematic domains and the 318 permissible works under the Mission.
Special Secretary-cum-Managing Director, Ms Tshering L. Lachungpa, addressed queries raised by the attendees regarding administrative funds, MIS-related challenges and manpower constraints. She informed that the Department is working to address the concerns and strengthen field-level support. She reiterated that e-KYC is mandatory for Job Cards and assured the participants of necessary support.
MIS Coordinator, RDD, Gangtok Mr Purna Rai made a brief presentation on the Swachh Bharat Mission, highlighting the need for sustainability of created assets, stronger operation and maintenance mechanisms, and key provisions of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026.
The Sammelan stressed participatory, outcome- and evidence-based planning, convergence of resources and schemes, and proper documentation to ensure sustainable and need-based development at the grassroots level.
