District Level Youth Festival Held at PM SHRI Dikling Senior Secondary School Pakyong

The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Pakyong District, in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Gangtok, organised the District Level Youth Festival under the auspices of the National Youth Festival 2025 at the auditorium hall of PM SHRI Dikling Senior Secondary School today.
The festival showcased a range of activities aimed at celebrating youth talent and fostering creativity. It included a diverse range of competitions, including thematic events like science mela competitions and cultural contests such as folk song and folk dance performances. In line with the theme "Goal of Developed India @2047," life skill-based competitions featured a young artist painting contest, poetry and story writing competitions, an extempore speech contest, and a mobile photography competition.
Addressing the attendees, Mr Bhakti Sharma, Joint Director, District Education Office Pakyong, highlighted that National Youth Day commemorates the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. He pointed out that the day serves to recognise and celebrate the contributions of youth, fostering their creativity and energy while also promoting unity and national integration.
Further, he highlighted that students possess great talent, and the event offers them a valuable platform to showcase it, further encouraging them to make the most of the opportunity.
Likewise, Mr Saurav Barman, District Youth Officer NYK, reiterated the importance of National Youth Day, celebrated on 12th January each year to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Additionally, he provided an overview of the event, emphasising that the district-level Youth Festival serves as the first phase, with winners progressing to the state-level Youth Festival. Subsequently, the state-level winners will represent the state at the National Youth Festival. Further, Mr Barman wished the students success and encouraged them to embrace challenges in order to gain valuable experience.

The event also included a felicitation ceremony to honour guests and contributors, followed by the distribution of prizes and certificates to the winners.
The programme also had the presence of Mr Nim Dorjee Bhutia, Deputy Director, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Pakyong District; Mr Pintcho Bhutia, Deputy Director, Rongli Subdivision; Ms Geeta Sharma, Deputy Director, Education Department; Mr Deepak Sharma, Principal, Dikling Senior Secondary School; Mr Robert Lepcha and Mr Manoj Gurung, Assistant Directors, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Pakyong District along with teachers and students from various schools under Pakyong District.
