District Level Verification Committee Meeting discusses nomination for Shravan Kumar Award 2025
Mangan, July 17(IPR):
A meeting of the District Level Verification Committee for Mangan District to discuss the prospective nominees for Shravan Kumar Award 2025 was conducted in the chamber of District Collector Mangan today. The meeting was organised by Rural Development Department, Mangan District.
Present in the meeting were Adhakshya, Mangan District Zilla Panchayat, Mr Kado Lepcha, ADM Mangan Mr Pema Wangchen Namkarpa, ADC Development Mangan cum Member Secretary of the Verification Committee, Dr Sonam R Lepcha, Chief Medical Officer Dr Tempo T Kaleon, BDO Mangan Mr Kailash Thapa, BDO Kabi Mr Tashi W Bhutia, BDO Passingdang Dr Mahindra Tamang, SWO (WCSC&DWD) Ms Choden Bhutia, Deputy Secretary (RDD) Mr MB Chettri, ASP Mangan Mr Mani Kr Tamang, WO (SWD) Mr Ganesh Thapa, Under Secretary (MDZP) Ms ND Sherpa, OS (RDD) Ms Tshering Choden and Inspectors from RDD.
The state government has instituted the “Shravan Kumar Award,” which is conferred annually on 15th August (Independence Day), to sons and daughters of Sikkim who render selfless service to their parents, embodying the spirit of Shravan Kumar in filial devotion. The award carries a cash incentive of ₹1 lakh for each awardee, selected from every Gram Panchayat Unit.
It is important to note that individuals who were not selected this year, as well as those who did not apply, will have the opportunity to apply again next year, as the award is presented annually. Additionally, individuals currently holding a government job are not eligible for this award.
The meeting was successfully conducted and saw active participation from all attendees, contributing to a meaningful and well organised session.
