District Level Monitoring Committee Conducts Bimonthly Inspection of MBPCL at Rangpo

Pakyong, February 25 (IPR): The District Level Monitoring Committee of Pakyong District, led by Additional District Collector, Pakyong, Mr Pulkit, conducted its bimonthly inspection of Madhya Bharat Power Corporation Limited (MBPCL) at Rangpo today.
The inspection focused on reviewing the safety mechanisms in place to minimise risks to public safety and property. The team aimed to identify vulnerabilities, evaluate the existing infrastructure, and suggest measures for better preparedness and hazard prevention.
The inspection team had the presence of SE, Power Department, Mr Karma D Bhutia; DFO (T), Mr SP Bhutia; Joint Director, Mines and Geology Department, Mr Passang Sherpa; AE, Water Resources Department, Ms Rinchen Tamang; BDO Duga, Mr Chopel Bhutia; DPO Pakyong, Mr TR Chettri; RO/AD Rangpo, Mr Bimal Gurung along with officials from various line departments and MBPCL.
The visit commenced with a meeting wherein MBPCL officials presented updates on project operations and safety measures implemented at the plant.
Following the meeting, the committee carried out a comprehensive tour of the plant site, while inspecting the powerhouse and the switchyard sites of MBPCL and assessing the safety measures implemented by them. The officials of MBPCL also provided detailed information on the various technical facets of the project.
During the inspection, ADC Pakyong enquired about the communication system and the Early Warning System (EWS) available at the plant.
It was informed that no satellite phone or independent communication system is presently available at the site. In the event of an emergency, the company relies on the Police and Fire Department for communication and response support.
The DFO (T) also enquired about the provision and functioning of the fish ladder at the project site.
The committee further directed the concerned authorities to address the gaps identified during the inspection and ensure compliance with prescribed safety and communication protocols.
