District Collector Gyalshing Inaugurates NABARD District Development Manager Office in Gyalshing

Gyalshing, July 30 (IPR): The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Regional Office, Sikkim, today inaugurated its District Development Manager (DDM) Office at 9th Mile, Gyalshing (near Vishal Mega Mart), further strengthening agricultural support services and rural development in the district.
The office was inaugurated by the District Collector, Gyalshing, Mr Tenzing D. Denzongpa, as the chief guest, in the presence of the General Manager and Office In-charge, NABARD Regional Office, Sikkim, Mr Monohar Lal.
Addressing the gathering, the District Collector Gyalshing Mr Denzongpa appreciated NABARD for establishing a dedicated office in Gyalshing District and congratulated the organisation on the successful inauguration. He said the office would improve coordination between NABARD and the District Administration, enabling development programmes to be implemented more effectively.
Mr Denzongpa advised the newly appointed District Development Manager, Gyalshing, to maintain close coordination with the Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Block Development Officers (BDOs), Zilla Panchayats and Gram Panchayats across the district. He also emphasised the need to submit progress reports to the District Administration every three months to facilitate regular review and effective coordination.
Mr Denzongpa further highlighted the importance of education, experience and exposure in strengthening cooperation among government departments, financial institutions and development agencies working for the welfare of rural communities.
The General Manager and Office In-charge, NABARD Regional Office Sikkim Mr Lal, outlined NABARD’s role in promoting agriculture and allied sectors through support for rural infrastructure, financial inclusion, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and other development initiatives. He said the newly established office would help identify local development needs and support the timely implementation of NABARD-assisted schemes in the district.
The Additional Director, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department, Gyalshing Mr B B Subba, Joint Registrar Cooperation Department Gyalshing Ms Laden Gensapa, and the Senior Scientist Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Gyaba Mr Bhison Pradhan, also addressed the gathering. They stressed the importance of close cooperation between the DDM Office and line departments to strengthen rural livelihoods and promote balanced development across the district.
AGM NABARD Mr Rupen Lamichaney said the establishment of the DDM Office reflects NABARD’s continued efforts to work more closely with district-level stakeholders. He added that the office would facilitate closer coordination with the District Administration, financial institutions and implementing agencies, resulting in more effective delivery of development programmes.
Earlier, welcoming the gathering, Assistant General Manager, NABARD Regional Office, Sikkim Mr Mewang Lowang said the establishment of the DDM Office would bring stakeholders onto a common platform and support the effective execution of rural development initiatives in Gyalshing District.
The inaugural programme was attended by the DIO IPRD Gyalshing Mr Rajen Tamang, DDM NABARD Gyalshing Mr Pukhrambam Boicha Meitei, officials from government departments, representatives of Lead Banks, and members of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) functioning in the district.
The newly established DDM Office is expected to serve as a focal point for NABARD’s activities in the district by facilitating closer engagement with government departments, financial institutions and community organisations, while supporting ongoing rural development efforts.
