District Administration Gyalshing Joins Nation to observe Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas
Gyalshing, June 25(IPR):
A formal programme to observe Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas, a poignant reminder of the period when the Constitution of India was undermined during the Emergency imposed in 1975, was held at the DAC Gyalshing premises,today.
The Panchayat President Tikjuk-Kyongsa GPU Ms Zangmo Bhutia graced the event as the Chief guest accompanied by District Collector Gyalshing Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, ADC Gyalshing Mr Suresh Rai, Additional SP Mr Sonam Wangdi Bhutia,SDM(HQ) Mr Pulkit Balhara, Heads of Offices, PGT Political Science Government Girls Sr. Secondary Ms Yangkila Lepcha, and officials of the line departments under DAC Gyalshing.
'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' is observed to honor those who opposed and fought against the injustices during the Emergency imposed by Prime Minister of India in 1975.
The Government of India on June 12 officially notified June 25 as Samvidhan Hatya Diwas, to ensure that the critical period of the history is not forgotten and the sanctity of democracy is consistently upheld.
DC Gyalshing in his address, extended gratitude to the Department of Information and Public Relations, Government of Sikkim,Gyalshing for facilitating with the assistance for observing the day, at the district.
DC Gyalshing even briefly highlighted on the historical significance of the day that helps in keeping the eternal flame of individual freedom and democracy alive in every Indian by preventing any dictatorial force from repeating.
ADC Gyalshing administered two slogan for recitation by the attendees that mark the day,
" More Power to Democracy, One Need Democracy", and"Bharat:Mother of Democracy".
Ms Yangkila briefly highlighted on the Values of Constitution in Democracy and shared the main motive behind observing the day, nationwide.
The commemoration holds a significant value to the nation for collectively acknowledging the struggles, sacrifices and hardship endured during the emergency imposed in 1975.
