Director SBM-G Visits Kamarey Model Village in Pakyong District
Pakyong, 11 November (IPR):
Mr Karanjit Singh, the Director of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) (SBM-G) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, alongside Ms Sucheta Deb, Consultant at the Ministry, embarked on a visit to the Kamarey Model Village situated in Budang Kamarey Gram Panchayat (GP) within Pakyong District today.
The objective of this visit was to evaluate the implementation of sanitation initiatives under the SBM-G framework within Kamarey Model Village.
Upon their arrival at Rangpo, the delegation was welcomed by Mr Robin Pd Sewa, Additional District Collector(Development), and Mr Tika Ram Chettri,BDO Pakyong, in conjunction with the Panchayat President and members from West Pendam.
Subsequently, the team proceeded to Budang Kamarey GP, where they were received by the Panchayat President, local representatives, and the villagers.
During the course of their visit, the delegation meticulously inspected various sanitation assets, which included Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs), visual cleanliness standards, the drip water system, biogas units, soak pits, compost pits, as well as organic farming practices.
Mr Singh expressed commendation for the sustainable initiatives and effective sanitation practices observed within the village, urging for the dissemination of these successful models beyond Kamarey to catalyze similar efforts in other regions.
