Day 3 of SIFF 2026 showcases diverse global and regional cinema

Gangtok, March 21 (IPR): The Sikkim International Film Festival 2026 continued to engage audiences on its third day with a compelling lineup of film screenings held at Manan Kendra, today, presenting a vibrant mix of international, regional, and documentary cinema that reflected diverse storytelling traditions.
The day’s screenings commenced with ‘Turba,’ directed by Luis Rodríguez and Andrés Rodríguez, a Venezuelan film distinguished by its experimental narrative and layered storytelling, offering a reflective exploration of identity, human experience, and emotional depth through a symbolic cinematic approach.
This was followed by ‘Oitharei,’ directed by Dinesh Naorem, representing Manipuri cinema. The film presented a grounded portrayal of social realities, highlighting themes of resilience and human endurance while capturing the complexities of lived experiences through a sensitive narrative.
In the AI category, ‘Birds of a Feather,’ directed by Debargatha Maschatak, was screened. The animated short film employed symbolic visuals to explore themes of connection, individuality, and belonging, demonstrating a creative blend of storytelling and emerging cinematic techniques.
The documentary ‘227 La Lunas / 277 Moons,’ directed by Brenda Taubin, added a reflective dimension to the screenings, presenting a poetic narrative that explored the passage of time and human experiences through a visually immersive and contemplative style.
The screenings concluded with ‘Sikkim,’ a documentary by Satyajit Ray, which offered a cinematic portrayal of the State’s rich cultural heritage and scenic landscapes, capturing its unique identity through a visually rich and engaging lens.
