Day 1 of Home Voting for 4 constituencies ends under Soreng
Soreng, April 4 (IPR): The Election Commission of India's (ECI) initiative to facilitate home voting for four constituencies in Soreng district completed its first day where a total of 56 home voters cast their votes through postal ballot, today.
It may be mentioned that the home voting facility is being extended to 85+ years and People with Disabilities (PwD) voters with over 40 per cent disability, as per the ECI guidelines.
Expressing gratitude for this new provision, absentee voters lauded the ECI's efforts to enhance accessibility and convenience in the voting process with this new facility.
After completion all the Home Voting teams returned with the cast ballots and deposited them in the District Collection Centre in the presence of the DC/DEO (Soreng), all Returning Officers, District Nodal Officer (Postal Ballot) and other district officials. Thereafter, the postal ballots were safely stored in the designated Strong room at the Government B. Ed. College, Soreng.
The process was conducted transparently, with representatives from all political parties in attendance.
