DLVC meeting held to finalise Shravan Kumar Awardees in Pakyong District
Pakyong, July 18 (IPR):
A meeting of the District Level Verification Committee (DLVC) for the finalisation of the list of eligible candidates for the Shravan Kumar Award under Pakyong District was organised by the Rural Development Department, Pakyong at the meeting hall of the office of the ADC (Dev), Pakyong, RDD, today.
The meeting was chaired by Zilla Adhyaksha, Pakyong District, Mrs Laden Lhamu Bhutia.
The State Government has instituted the Shravan Kumar Award to be conferred each year on the 15th of August, Independence Day, to the sons and daughters of Sikkim who render selfless service to their parents epitomising the qualities of Shravan Kumar in filial piety. The award carries a cash incentive of Rs 1 lakh each per Gram Panchayat Unit.
Additional District Collector (Development) cum member secretary, Mr Robin Pd Sewa, while addressing the meeting, highlighted the objectives of the Shravan Kumar Award and briefed the members on the guidelines and parameters to be followed during the verification and finalisation process.
In addition, he noted that this is a significant and commendable initiative of the State, and stressed the need for collective effort to realise the Chief Minister’s vision through sincere and effective execution.
During the meeting, the committee scrutinised the nominations received from each GPU, as recommended through the Gram Sabhas, verified them in accordance with the guidelines, and finalised the list of awardees.
The meeting had the presence of committee members, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Madanmani Dhakal, SDPO Pakyong, Mr Bikash Rai; Block Development Officers from Pakyong, Duga, Namcheybong, Parakha, Rhenock and Regu, and staff from Women, Child, Senior Citizen, and Person with Disabilities Welfare Department.
