DEO-cum-District Collector Pakyong Conducts Sensitisation Meeting on SIR of Electoral Rolls

Pakyong, May 20 (IPR): The District Election Officer (DEO) cum District Collector, Pakyong, Ms Pari Bishnoi, convened a meeting with representatives of political parties and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at the DDMA Control Hall, Pakyong, today regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Phase III of electoral rolls.
The meeting was held to sensitise representatives of political parties and BLAs on the timelines, procedures and activities under the upcoming SIR process.
Addressing the gathering, the DEO highlighted that the objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to ensure purification and updation of electoral rolls through inclusion of eligible voters, deletion of names of deceased voters, removal of duplicate entries, correction of inaccurate details and verification of shifted or absentee voters. She emphasised the importance of maintaining accurate and updated electoral rolls to strengthen the electoral process.
Through a presentation, the DEO apprised participants of the need, key features and procedures of the SIR process. She explained that the revision exercise would involve an Enumeration Phase, during which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct house-to-house visits for distribution and collection of Enumeration Forms (EFs). She also elaborated on the process of pre-filled Enumeration Forms and preparation of the draft electoral roll.
The DEO urged all political parties to appoint one Booth Level Agent for each polling booth in the district to ensure smooth and effective implementation of the SIR process. Referring to directives issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), she informed that BLAs may directly coordinate with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), DEO or EROs for clarifications to avoid confusion and ensure dissemination of accurate information.
Further, she explained the features of the ECINET application, through which electors can schedule calls with BLOs assigned to their respective areas.
The meeting also included an interactive session during which queries raised by participants were addressed by the District Level Master Trainer.
Present during the meeting were ADC (HQ) cum ERO, Mr Sabindra Rai; SDM Pakyong cum ERO, Mr N.K Bhandari, along with officials from the Election Cell.
