DEO Namchi Chairs Meeting with EROs to Strengthen Voter Enrolment Drive
Namchi, October 6 (IPR): In continuation of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 in Sikkim, District Election Officer (DEO) Namchi, Ms Anupa Tamling, chaired a meeting with the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) of Namchi District at the District Administrative Centre, Namchi, today.
During the meeting, the DEO apprised the EROs of the latest directives issued by the Election Commission of India and directed them to organise special enrolment drives for eligible voters who may have been left out during the SIR process.
She emphasised the need for effective communication with officials and the public before the drives to ensure accurate information reaches people and to address any misconceptions about the enrolment process.
The DEO further directed the EROs to ensure that the concerned Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) strictly adhere to the prescribed guidelines and parameters while collecting and verifying documents. She also emphasised that eligible young voters should be duly included in the electoral roll as per the prescribed eligibility criteria.
The meeting was attended by ERO (09 Barfung) Mr Saran D Kalikotey, ERO (10 Poklok-Kamrang) Mr Subash Ghimirey, ERO (11 Namchi-Singhithang) Mr Wangyal Sherpa, ERO (12 Melli) Mr B B Rai, ERO (13 Namthang-Rateypani) Mr Pravin Gautam, ERO (14 Temi-Namphing) Mr Nim Pintso Bhutia, ERO (15 Rangang-Yangang) Mr K L Dahal, Deputy Secretary (Election) Ms Bhumika Chettri and OS (Election) Ms Punam Rai.
