DEO Gangtok Holds Meeting with Representatives of Political Parties on SIR 2026
Gangtok, June 22 (IPR): District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-District Collector, Gangtok, Mr Rohan Agawane, chaired a meeting with representatives of political parties on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 at the Chamber of the District Collector, District Administrative Centre (DAC), Gangtok, at Sichey today.
At the outset, Under Secretary, Election Department, Ms Dhan Maya Rasaily, apprised the attendees of the objective of the meeting, which was to seek no objection from political parties regarding the rationalization of polling stations in Gangtok district, including the addition of 19 new polling stations following approval from the Election Commission of India (ECI), and to address queries raised by political parties concerning the SIR process.
During the meeting, representatives of political parties raised queries on various aspects of the SIR process, including the rationalization of polling stations, Enumeration Forms (EFs), the miking process, and information pertaining to absentee, migrated and deleted electors.
After hearing the concerns and grievances of the representatives of political parties, the DEO Gangtok elaborated on the process of rationalisation of polling stations, the various aspects relating to Enumeration Forms (EFs), and the miking process being carried out by the Election Department in Gangtok district to sensitise electors about the urgency of submitting their duly filled-up Enumeration Forms to their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
Further, the DEO Gangtok assured the representatives of political parties that the lists of mapped and unmapped electors would be shared with them through his office after the completion of the house-to-house visits by the BLOs. In his concluding remarks, he urged political parties to sensitise the public on the importance of submitting their filled-up Enumeration Forms (EFs) to their respective BLOs before June 28, 2026.
The meeting was attended by ADC (HQ), Gangtok, Mr Tshering Norgyal Theengh, ADC, Gangtok, Mr Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia, ADC (Dev), Gangtok, Ms Rajni Sharma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) (HQ), Gangtok, Mr Mahendra Chettri, SDM, Gangtok, Mr C.S. Limboo, SDM, Rabdang, Mr Roshan Limboo, officers from various line departments, and representatives of political parties.
