DC Soreng meets the RRCNE team of NITI Aayog Aspirational Block Programme

Soreng, May 8 (IPR): Ms Yishey D Yongda DC Soreng had a meeting with the team from Regional Resource Centre for North Eastern States (RRCNE), branch of National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHRSC) MoH&PW, Government of India here at the District Administrative Centre, today.
During the meeting, the DC stressed upon a holistic and significant approach towards addressing mental health along with physical well-being. She underlined the need for normalizing discussions on mental health issues without any apprehensions and social stigma while exploring strategies to help manage and prevent mental health issues. Simultaneously, she showed concerns over the district’s current alarming status of low fertility rate and urged to conduct an empirical study so as to get a comprehensive finding to asses the issue. She also advised for trainings to ASHA and Anganwadi workers to assist in generating awareness at the grass-root level.
Prior to the meeting the RRCNE officials along with the Officers from the District visited the Health & Wellness Centre (HWC) at Chota Samdung under Chumbong block for supportive supervision as a part of Aspirational Block Programme (ABP). The visiting team surveyed and interacted with the health facilitators, ASHA workers and patients at the HWC.
It may be informed here that under NITI Aayog Aspirational Block Programme, 500 blocks have been identified throughout the country out which Chumbong block in Soreng district is one amongst them.
The RRCNE team comprised of Dr Arya Kumar (Consultant, Q&PS) and Mr Amit Raj Roy (Consultant, CO-CPHC). The district team was led by Dr Patrika Rai along with Medical Officers and Staff from Soreng CHC including Dr Nigidita Pradhan, Aspirational Block Fellow and Ms Natija Karki from Piramal Foundation.
