DC Soreng Flags Off " Financial literacy week mobile van" in Soreng
𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠, 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟓 (𝐈𝐏𝐑): The District Collector, Mr. Dhiraj Subedi, officially flagged off the "Financial Literacy Week Mobile Van" with this year's theme being 'Financial Literacy: Women’s Prosperity' in Soreng District.
The event, held at the District Administration Centre (DAC) in Soreng, was attended by several dignitaries, including Mr. Nahkul Pradhan (SP Soreng), Ms. Sakchum Lepcha (SDM Soreng), Ms. Aditi Haldar (Manager RBI), Mrs. Jharna Thapa (Assistant Manager RBI), Ms. Pema Lamu Bhutia (Assistant), and other officials.
This initiative by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is a significant step towards financial inclusion and economic development in Soreng District. During his address, DC Soreng expressed his gratitude to the RBI team for their efforts, stating that such initiatives are pivotal for the growth and progress of the district.
Mr. Subedi emphasized that as an Aspirational District, Soreng will greatly benefit from initiatives like these, which play a crucial role in bridging developmental gaps, particularly in the financial sector. He highlighted the importance of improved banking facilities, digital financial services, and financial literacy programs in empowering local businesses, farmers, and self-help groups, thereby boosting the district’s economy.
It is to be mentioned that RBI is observing Financial Literacy Week (FLW) 2025 from February 24 to 28, marking the 10th edition of this annual initiative. This year’s theme, “Financial Literacy: Women’s Prosperity,” underscores the importance of empowering women through financial education.
The campaign aims to enhance the financial literacy and decision-making capabilities of homemakers, working women, and women entrepreneurs by providing them with essential financial knowledge and tools.
