DC Soreng Chairs Coordination Meeting for Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0 on HIV/AIDS and STIS

Soreng, August 18 (IPR): A coordination meeting to discuss the two month Intensified Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign 3.0, on HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Prevention and Control, spearheaded by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) was held at the District Administrative Centre, Soreng, today.
The meeting was chaired by the District Collector, Soreng, Mr Dhiraj Subedi.
Addressing the meeting, District Collector highlighted the objectives and key focus areas of the campaign. Emphasising the crucial role of the Block Development Officers (BDOs) and the District Administration, he urged all BDOs to extend full support and coordinate closely with the AIDS Control Society for effective implementation of the campaign.
The DC further directed the concerned officials to coordinate with the AIDS Control Society and utilise every possible platform to disseminate awareness on HIV/AIDS and STIs among the community. He stressed the importance of reaching out to people at the grassroots level to ensure wider participation and effective communication of key messages related to prevention and control.
CMO, Soreng, Dr. Smriti Rai also addressed the meeting and highlighted the three key targets under the 95-95-95 strategy, namely Sangharshsheel, Saksham and Surakshit. She informed the meeting that Soreng district has already achieved the second 95 target, Saksham.
She further briefed the house on the integrated action plan for the campaign and called upon all BDOs to actively mobilise community participation and ensure coordinated efforts for the successful implementation of the campaign across the district.
The meeting was attended by the BDOs of the district, AD (IT) Mr Amir Bhandari, DPC (NTEP) Dr. Surabhi Mukhia, DHEO Ms Roshni Thapa, Counsellor (ICTC) Ms Ganga Chhetri and Lab Technician (ICTC) Ms Nirmala Sharma.
