DC Soreng Chairs Coordination Meeting for "Aakanksha Haat" and "Sampoornata Abhiyaan Samman Samaroh

Today DC (Soreng) Mr Dhiraj Subedi chaired a coordination meeting at the District Administrative Centre (Soreng), to discuss preparations for the upcoming “Aakanksha Haat” and the award ceremony “Sampoornata Abhiyaan Samman Samaroh” under the Aspirational District Programme.
DC Mr Dhiraj Subedi addressed the house, where he gave a brief overview of the Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Block Programmes launched by NITI Aayog. He then, explained the house that these programmes are designed to bring focused development in key sectors such as health, education, agriculture and basic services through data-driven planning and effective implementation.
Also, he informed the house that the “Sampoornata Abhiyaan Samman Samaroh” will be held between 28th July till 2nd August 2025 at both the state and district levels to celebrate the achievements under the Sampoornata Abhiyaan 2024, which aimed to achieve saturation in six key performance indicators. He also, highlighted the remarkable progress of Soreng district wherein, he proudly stated that Soreng, being an Aspirational District, has successfully achieved saturation in all six indicators, making it one of the few districts to reach this milestone.
Additionally, he informed that the day will also mark the launch of “Aakanksha Haat”, a platform to display and promote local products and innovations from the district. The district will also, introduce the concept of “Didi Ko Khajaghar”, a women-led local food stall initiative aimed at empowering Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing them with an opportunity to serve and sell traditional, home-cooked food. This initiative will support women’s economic empowerment while celebrating local cuisine and culture, he added.
Concluding his address, he urged all departments to work in coordination for the smooth and successful organisation of the event.
The house also held an open discussion, where valuable suggestions were shared by officials to further streamline planning and coordination.
Initially, the meeting began with a welcome note delivered by ADC-I Mr DR Bista. In his opening address, he welcomed all attendees and emphasised the importance of effective coordination and timely execution for the upcoming events. He highlighted the significance of “Aakanksha Haat” and the “Sampoornata Abhiyaan Samman Samaroh” in showcasing the district’s progress and recognising collective efforts under the Aspirational District Programme. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by SDM (HQ) Mr Prem K Subba.
The event also saw the presence and participation of Panchayat Members, ADC-I Mr DR Bista, SDM (HQ) Mr Prem K Subba, SDM (Soreng) Ms Sakchum Lepcha, CEO (Soreng) Mr LD Sharma, CMO (Soreng PHC) Mr Namgay Bhutia, Additional Director (Agriculture) Mr Pranaya Gurung, Additional Director (Horticulture) Mr Robin Gurung, Head of Departments, BDOs, President (STDA) Mr Dewash Tamang, President (Baazar Committee) Mr Ashok Pradhan, representatives and officials from various line departments.
