DC Pakyong Chairs DPPAC meeting held for National Panchayat Awards 2024
Pakyong, 2 September (IPR): The District Panchayat Performance Assessment Committee (DPPAC) meeting for National Panchayat Awards 2024, chaired by Mr Agawane Rohan Ramesh, DC Pakyong, was held today in the conference hall of DAC Pakyong.
Key attendees present at the meeting were Mr Robin Pd Sewa, ADC (Dev), Pakyong, Dr Anjala Pradhan, AH&VS Department, Mr Bhakti Pd Sharma, JD Education Department, Ms Hissey Choden Bhutia, Deputy Director Horticulture Department, Dr Sidhdant Basnett, MO Health Department, Mrs Sunita Dahal, Social Welfare Officer, Social Welfare Department and Mr Varun Chettri, Faculty SIRD.
The meeting focused on distributing criteria among departments and assigning tasks for the assessment process. Each department was provided with specific guidelines to evaluate the panchayats under the designated award themes.
In his address, ADC (Dev) briefly introduced the agenda and emphasised the importance of sustained efforts and strategic planning to achieve excellence in the National Panchayat Awards.
Additionally, he encouraged the officials to collaborate effectively to ensure a thorough and fair assessment process.
During the meeting, the committee members discussed the parameters for each award category in detail, ensuring that all relevant aspects of Panchayat functioning are covered.
The departments were tasked with collecting data, conducting field visits, and preparing reports based on the established criteria. Also, the timeline for completing the assessments and submitting the final reports was also established during the meeting.
The National Panchayat Awards are presented under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Panchayat Sustainable Development Award (DDUPSP) category.
These awards are given to the top three Gram Panchayats or equivalent bodies in each of the following nine thematic areas:
1. Poverty-free and enhanced livelihoods Panchayat
2. Healthy Panchayat
3. Child Friendly Panchayat
4. Water Sufficient Panchayat
5. Clean and green Panchayat
6. Self-sufficient infrastructure in Panchayat
7. Socially Secured and Socially Just Panchayat
8. Panchayat with good governance
9. Women-friendly Panchayat
The meeting concluded with DC Pakyong urging all departments to approach the assessment with integrity and diligence, ensuring that the best-performing panchayats are selected for national recognition.
