Gyalshing,September 3 (IPR): The District Panchayat Performance Assessment Committee (DPPAC) meeting for National Panchayat Awards 2024, chaired by Ms. Yishey D. Yongda, District Collector, was held at the conference hall of DAC Gyalshing on 2.9.24.
The meeting was attended by the Committee members ADC (Dev) Shri Surat Gurung, SDM Gyalshing Shri NB Biswakarma,Dr NM Cintury Addl Dir. AH&VS , Mr Karma Sherpa Addl Dir. Agri/ Horti Deptt, Ms Angelmit Lepcha DE GDZP, Mr Rajesh Thapa DD Education, Mr Bhushan Subba Sr. Welfare Officer, BDOs and Field Facilitator, SIRD.
During his welcome address ADC Development gave an overview of the work ahead and the specific duties of the members.
The prime focus of the meeting was on identifying dates for conducting visits to the GPUs for the assessment process so as to complete the work within the stipulated timeline. The members were each provided with the necessary framework to evaluate the panchayats as per the award themes set by the Ministry.
The DC urged all members to take up assigned tasks seriously and sincerely since it was a matter of assessing the representatives at the grassroots level. She further instructed that the field visit calendar decided upon in the meeting be followed in toto.
The National Panchayat Awards are presented under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Panchayat Sustainable Development Award (DDUPSP) category.
These awards are given to the top three Gram Panchayats or equivalent bodies in each of the following nine thematic areas:
1. Poverty-free and enhanced livelihoods Panchayat
2. Healthy Panchayat
3. Child Friendly Panchayat
4. Water Sufficient Panchayat
5. Clean and green Panchayat
6. Self-sufficient infrastructure in Panchayat
7. Socially Secured and Socially Just Panchayat
8. Panchayat with good governance
9. Women-friendly Panchayat
