DC East launches Electors Verification Programme

Gangtok, 01 Sept (IPR): District Election Officer-cum- District Collector, East, Shri Raj Yadav, IAS, launched the Electors Verification Programme (EVP) today at 11:00 am at the District Administrative Centre in the presence of all the EROs and AEROs of the district.
EVP is the largest voter’s verification drive by the Election Commission of India which will be held from 1st September to 15th October, 2019.
The DEO, East mentioned that all the voters can check, authenticate and verify their and their families’ details in their Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) for a 100% error-free Electoral Roll through this program in a simple manner. The electors may verify the details through “Voter Helpline” mobile app or NVSP portal.
In addition to this, they may also visit the Voter Facilitation Centre set up at the offices of the EROs and AEROs.
Elaborating on the EVP, the DEO, East stated that the electors can verify existing elector details and indicate corrections in details, if any, including photographs and providing contact details.
The entries can be authenticated by furnishing a copy of one of the following documents: (i) Indian Passport (ii) Driving License (iii) Aadhaar (iv) Ration Card (v) Identity card for Government/Semi-Government Officials (vi) Bank Passbooks and (vii) Famer’s Identity Card (vii) any other Document as approved by the Commission.
Moreover, details of family members can be furnished and entries verified and also details of family members who are enrolled with the elector and have been Permanently Shifted or expired can also be informed. Details of eligible un-enrolled family members (born on or before 01.01.2001) and prospective electors born between (02.01.2002 till 01.01.2003) who are residing with the elector can also be informed.
In order to provide better Electoral Services, the electors can furnish GPS coordinates of their houses through the mobile app and also make suggestions on alternate Polling Stations, if any.
In conclusion, the DEO, East urged all the electors of the district to actively participate in the Electors Verification Programme and requested the Booth Level Officers, Supervisory Officers, AEROs and EROs to review the progress of the EVP to ensure an error free Electoral Roll.
