DC Pakyong chairs the District's First IEIAP Committee Meeting
Pakyong, 17 August (IPR): Mr Agawane Rohan Ramesh, IAS, DC Pakyong chaired the first meeting of the District Level Committee on Integrated Economic Inclusion Action Plans (IEIAP) at the conference hall of the DAC Pakyong today.
The primary objective of the IEIAP is to coordinate the implementation of economic inclusion initiatives, with a specific focus on promoting economic inclusion outcomes for women and youth.
During the meeting, DC Pakyong discussed the key objectives of the IEIAP, which include the convergence of investments, financial intervention, targeted intervention, gender and youth focus, and a bottom-up citizen approach. He outlined the committee's responsibilities and plans for uplifting women and youth, emphasising the importance of identifying and prioritising key intervention areas based on their feasibility and impact potential.
DC Pakyong also provided a briefing on the implementation and monitoring responsibilities of the IEIAP committee, which will oversee the progress of IEIAP and make necessary adjustments as needed. He mentioned the need for a tentative timeline for these activities.
Mr Robin Pd Sewa, ADC (Dev), provided an overview of Sikkim INSPIRES (Integrated Service Provision and Innovation for Revising Economics), a transformative initiative aimed at fostering economic inclusion for women and youth in non-farm sectors. He highlighted that Sikkim INSPIRES is a unique programme that represents the first direct partnership between the government of Sikkim and the World Bank.
Through INSPIRES, the state government is adopting an evidence-based module to provide better economic inclusion opportunities for women and youth, creating various training and employment opportunities aligned with the aspirations of the youth.
Additionally, the meeting involved discussions on other relevant topics, including the identification of key intervention areas and the development of a comprehensive plan for their implementation.
The meeting was attended by Mr Jigmee Wongchuk Bhutia, Deputy Secretary Commerce & Industries Department; Ms Sushma Pradhan, Deputy Director Tourism & Civil Aviation Department; Mr BT Pote, DGM, Airport Authority of India, Mr Varun Chettri AD/Faculty, State Institute of Rural Development Department/SIRD, Dr S Basnett MO, Health & Family Welfare Department and officials from Information & Technology Department, Women & Child Development Department, Social Welfare Department, SIRD, RDD and Bazar Officer.
