Coordination Meeting Reviews Arrangements for National-Level Bhanu Jayanti Celebration in Soreng
Soreng, June 2 (IPR):
A coordination meeting to review preparations for the upcoming 212th National-Level Bhanu Jayanti celebration was held at the Rurban Complex, Soreng, today.
The meeting was chaired by MLA (Salghari-Zoom), Mr Madan Cintury, accompanied by MLA (Soreng-Chakung), Mr Aditya Golay.
The meeting commenced with a welcome address delivered by DC (Soreng), Mr Dhiraj Subedi, who informed the gathering that Soreng district would host the National-Level Bhanu Jayanti celebration this year. He also emphasized the importance of completing all necessary arrangements on time.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Madan Cintury put forward several suggestions regarding the celebration. He expressed gratitude for Soreng's opportunity to host the prestigious national-level event and urged all stakeholders to work collectively towards its success.
Chief Coordinator and Vice Chairman (ITS), Mr CP Sharma briefed the meeting on the schedule of activities and competitions planned during the week-long celebration. He discussed key aspects including the venue, “Shobha Yatra”, stage arrangements, book stalls, beautification of the venue and surrounding areas, accommodation and invitations.
During the meeting, representatives from various committees presented updates on their respective preparations.
Literary Committee representative Mr Santosh Kumar Alley highlighted several literary competitions and activities planned as part of the celebration. The Culture Committee representative Mrs Santa Sharma outlined cultural performances, group folk song competitions, audition schedules, venues, and judging arrangements, while noting that participation would be limited.
Additionally, JD (Fisheries Department), Mr Lobsang Tamang emphasized the importance of proper invitation management and accommodation arrangements for guests and participants. Other committee members also shared updates and raised issues requiring attention.
Further, the meeting witnessed active participation from attendees, with members offering valuable suggestions and recommendations aimed at ensuring the successful conduct of the event.
Also present during the meeting were Political Secretary to HCM, Mr Jacob Khaling, Zilla Adhakshya (Soreng), Mrs Tila Devi Gurung, Zilla Panchayats, Panchayats, OSDs, SP (Soreng), Mr Nahkul Pradhan, ADC (Soreng), Mr DR Bista, ADC (Dev.), Mr Ongdi Sherpa, SDMs, HoDs, HoOs, district officials and representatives from various departments.
Following the meeting, MLAs and other dignitaries conducted a recce of the proposed venue at Soreng School Playground and its surrounding areas to assess preparedness and identify any additional requirements for the upcoming celebration
