Completion of Withdrawal Process Leads to Uncontested Results in Gyalshing
Gyalshing, April 4 (IPR): The process of withdrawal of candidature for the General Municipal Election 2026 in Gyalshing District was completed today.
During the withdrawal proceedings, the independent candidates from Ward No.5–New Gyalshing (OBC)(S), Mr Bishnu Lall Thapa Chettri and Mr Santosh Sharma, submitted Form 21 for withdrawal of their candidature before the Municipal Returning Officer-cum-District Collector, Gyalshing, Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, in the presence of the Election Observer, Mr Bimal Rai. Consequently, Ward No. 05–New Gyalshing has also been declared uncontested.
Following the withdrawal of candidature, only one validly nominated candidate remained in each of the five wards under Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat. Accordingly, all candidates have been declared duly elected unopposed and no polling will be conducted in the district.
The details of the duly elected candidates are as follows:
1. Kyongsa (ST): Mr Rinzing Bhutia (Sikkim Krantikari Morcha)
2. Byadung (SC): Mr Praveen Darjee (Sikkim Krantikari Morcha)
3. Nayabazar Ward(ST) (W): Ms Laki Doma Bhutia (Sikkim Krantikari Morcha)
4. Central Gyalshing (UR) (W): Ms Suman Mittal (Sikkim Krantikari Morcha)
5. New Gyalshing (OBC)(S): Ms Khina Maya Tewari (Sikkim Krantikari Morcha)
The Certificates of Election(Form 47) have been issued to all the candidates declared elected.
