Chungthang, June 5: As part of the continuous day-wise implementation of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) campaign, themed "Swachh Gaon, Surakshit Jalvayu," an intensive cleanliness and plantation drive was successfully executed across all GPUs/Dzumsas of the Chungthang Block on 4th June, 2026.
The primary objective of the drive was to reinforce community-led waste management, eliminate garbage-vulnerable points, and enhance green cover to build climate resilience at the grassroots level.
Chungthang GPU Focus: While activities rolled out simultaneously across all block segments, the core drive for the Chungthang GPU was directly spearheaded by the Block Development Officer (BDO), Chungthang, Mr Johna Targain.
Official Supervision: The drive was executed in the active presence of the Assistant Engineer (AE), Chungthang Block, ensuring technical alignment for local waste-disposal hot spots and plantation zones.
The cleanliness cum plantation drive had the active participation of officials and field staff from the Chungthang Block Administrative Centre (BAC).
Additionally, personnel from the Chungthang Police Station (SDPO office), contributed actively to community safety and physical cleanup efforts.
Likewise, staff members and representatives from the Gram Panchayat Kendra (GPK) also participated, thereby bridging the gap with community volunteers.

The drive concluded with a collective pledge by all attendees and officials to sustain these daily habits, ensuring that the goals of a clean, climate-resilient village are met consistently across the entire Chungthang Block under the localised theme 'Swachha Ghar Swachcha Samaj' initiated by BDO Chungthang.
