Chief Minister inaugurates new Police Outpost in Deorali

Gangtok, July 26 (IPR): Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang inaugurated the new Sikkim Police Outpost here in Deorali, Gangtok today.
Upon his arrival, the Chief Minister was accorded a warm welcome by Minister for Rural Development Department and Cooperation Department, Mr Arun Kumar Upreti and Minister for Urban Development Department and Food and Civil Supplies Department, Mr Bhoj Raj Rai.
Earlier, the Police Outpost in Deorali had smaller area and could not house facilities necessary for operation of Police outpost. The new outpost is created to tackle challenges faced by the Police Department in the contemporary age. The construction of new Police Outpost which commenced on November 29, 2022 saw its completion on December 22, 2024.
The new Police Outpost in Deorali is a two and a half storey building. The new infrastructure has a total area of 1250 sq ft and it includes facilities such as Parking yard, Single Window and Sentry post on the ground floor. Further, the 1st and 2nd floor includes facilities such as Outpost IC Room, Staff Room, 2nd IC Room, separate Holding Cell for Male and Female, Kitchen Pantry, Dormitory and multiple sanitation facilities.
The inaguration ceremony had the presence of Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly Mr MN Sherpa, Cabinet Ministers, Area MLAs, Advisors, Director General of Police, Secretary UDD, Chairpersons, DC Gangtok, DIGP Gangtok Range & CID, Senior Officers, SP Gangtok, Councillors and concerned Officials of various line departments.
