Chief Minister Meets with Postmaster General to Discuss Postal Initiatives
Gangtok, June 27 (IPR): Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang met with Col. Akhilesh Kumar Pandey, the Postmaster General for the Sikkim and North Bengal region, at his official residence, Mintokgang this evening.
The Chief Minister was delighted to learn that approximately 15,000 girl children in Sikkim have been registered under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana.
Col. Pandey also briefed him about the Dak Ghar Niryat Yojana, under which a packaging unit has been established to help local exporters ship their goods worldwide via the Gangtok head office.
To further enhance the understanding and implementation of this initiative in the state, the Chief Minister decided to organize a convention between local exporters and Col. Pandey.
Additionally, he assured his support for opening new post office branches in Deorali and Soreng.
