Chief Minister Meets Sikkim’s Young NEET Achievers, Extends Best Wishes for MBBS Journey

Gangtok, September 14: Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang today met with students from Sikkim who have successfully qualified the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and secured admission to the MBBS 2026 batch at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences, Helen Lepcha Sikkim Government Medical College, and other reputed medical institutions across the country. The students were accompanied by their parents at Samman Bhawan.
Congratulating the young achievers, the Chief Minister extended his best wishes for their academic journey and future endeavours. He said that qualifying one of the country’s most competitive entrance examinations and securing admission to an MBBS programme is a significant achievement earned through hard work, dedication and merit.
The Chief Minister expressed particular appreciation for the fact that a majority of the students selected for MBBS this year have studied in government schools. He said this reflects the steady progress being made in the State’s education sector and the growing opportunities available to students through government institutions.
Reiterating the Government’s commitment to inclusive access to higher education, Chief Minister Tamang said the Government remains steadfastly committed to ensuring that deserving students from economically weaker sections have every opportunity to pursue higher education and realise their aspirations. He stated that the Government will continue to extend the necessary assistance to support students throughout their educational journey.
As part of the programme, the Chief Minister also handed over laptops to the students to support their academic pursuits.
Wishing the students continued success, the Chief Minister urged them to pursue their studies with dedication, serve society with compassion and contribute meaningfully to the progress and development of Sikkim.
He expressed confidence that the young students would uphold the name of Sikkim and make the State proud through their achievements and future service to society.
