Chief Minister Distributes 351 cheques under Chief Minister’s Self Employment Assistance Scheme

Gangtok, November 29(IPR): To empower the spirit of entrepreneurship, a cheque distribution programme under the Chief Minister’s Self Employment Assistance Scheme was organised by Chief Minister’s Office in collaboration with Commerce and Industries Department at Chintan Bhawan, today.
The programme had the presence of Chief Minister, Mr Prem Singh Tamang, as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang explained the basis on which cheques would be provided to the beneficiaries.
He emphasised that the State Government is committed to supporting hardworking individuals and noted that these schemes aim to assist youth and entrepreneurs. He shared examples of individuals who have already benefitted from the schemes and reiterated that the government’s foremost priority is to extend financial support to those in need.
He further mentioned that this is the first phase of the cheque distribution. The Chief Minister also highlighted that the government recently conducted a three-day coordination meeting with all state government departments to streamline processes and ensure smoother service delivery for the public. Additionally, he announced that five outstanding entrepreneurs will be recognised and rewarded.
In his welcome address, Secretary, Chief Minister’s Office, Mr Karma Namgyal Bhutia, outlined the objectives of the programme and informed that a total of 351 organisations would be receiving cheques. He outlined the beneficiaries under each category, including 40 under the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Grant, 286 under the Chief Minister’s Self Employment Assistance Scheme, and 25 under the Chief Minister’s Education Assistance Scheme.He further elaborated on the beneficiaries across these three categories and highlighted that, under the Chief Minister’s Education Assistance Scheme, four students have been identified through the Connect to CM initiative.
Thereafter, a video presentation highlighting the beneficiaries who have received support through the Chief Minister’s Self Employment Assistance Scheme was screened.
Thereafter, the Chief Minister, distributed 351 cheques under the following categories.
40 under the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Grant
286 under the Chief Minister’s Self Employment Assistance Scheme
25 under the Chief Minister’s Education Assistance Scheme.
Also present were, beneficiaries from six districts, officers and officials of the Chief Minister’s Office and other dignitaries.
