Chief Minister Attends Third Meeting of High-Level Task Force on Tourism in North Eastern Region
Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang attended the third meeting of the High-Level Task Force on Tourism in the North Eastern Region virtually today from Samman Bhawan.
The meeting was held under the direction of Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Mr Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in the presence of Union Minister for Tourism, Mr Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The session focused on formulating a comprehensive strategy for the development and promotion of tourism across the North Eastern Region.
To further strengthen regional collaboration, the Ministry of DoNER has constituted a High-Power Committee, comprising four North Eastern states- Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Meghalaya as members.
The committee is tasked with developing a coordinated approach to identify opportunities and address challenges in the region’s tourism sector.
During the detailed deliberations, several key aspects of tourism development were discussed, including infrastructure enhancement, sustainable tourism practices, improved connectivity, capacity building, and the promotion of the region’s rich cultural and natural heritage, informed the Chief Minister.
The meeting highlighted the importance of leveraging the North East’s unique assets to create a distinctive tourism identity that attracts both domestic and international visitors while ensuring sustainability and inclusivity.
The committee’s report, containing actionable recommendations and a strategic roadmap for the holistic growth of tourism in the North Eastern Region, will be finalized and submitted soon.
