Chhattisgarh Media Delegation holds an Interactive Session with IPRD
Gangtok, February 16 (IPR): A 12 member delegation from the Chhattisgarh press fraternity visited the Information and Public Relations Department headquarters at Soochna Bhawan this afternoon for an interactive session aimed at fostering inter state journalistic collaboration.
The delegation was led by Assistant Director, PIB Gangtok, Mr Manas P Sarma.
The interaction was graced by Chairperson, Information and Public Relations Department, Mr Ashit Rai. Also present were the Secretary, IPRD, Ms Annapurna Alley; Director, IPRD, Mr Sunil Kumar Mothey; and Section Heads of the Department.
The interactive session commenced with a round of introductions led by Assistant Director, PIB Raipur, Mr Sudipto Kar. He informed that the 12-member delegation, including 10 journalists representing print, electronic, and digital platforms, is visiting the State to observe the implementation of key Central and State Government projects.
In a gesture of mutual professional regard, the visiting delegation presented a token of love to their hosts, which was reciprocated by the IPRD team with the presentation of traditional khadas and departmental publications.
Welcoming the delegation, Chairperson IPRD Mr Ashit Rai shared insights from his professional journey and remarked that journalism continues to shape perspectives throughout one’s career. He acknowledged the role of the Press Information Bureau in enabling his travels across the country and highlighted Sikkim as one of the nation’s most peaceful states. He encouraged the visiting journalists to explore the State’s unique landscape and media culture and to build lasting professional relationships during their stay. He also suggested that the delegation visit the Press Club of Sikkim.
Expressing gratitude, Assistant Director, PIB Gangtok, Mr Manas P Sharma, thanked the IPRD officials for their hospitality. He emphasised the cordial working relationship between PIB and IPRD and expressed commitment to sustaining institutional synergy. Noting that such media visits to the State have been limited in recent years, he described the interaction as a step towards strengthening inter-state journalistic exchange.
Discussions during the session covered digital media policies, publication management, departmental initiatives including the Time Capsule project, information dissemination strategies and approaches to addressing fake news and fact checking.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Director, IPRD, Mr Sunil Kumar Mothey. The Welcome Address was delivered by District Information Officer, Gangtok, IPRD, Mr Dependra Sharma. The interactive session was conducted by SIA, IPRD, Mr Yadop Adhikari.
