Celebrating International Yoga Day: A Reflection on Unity and Health

Pakyong, June 21 (IPR): On the occasion of International Yoga Day (IYD), 2025, under the theme "Yoga for One Earth, One Health", a yoga session was organised by the National Ayush Mission, Health and Family Welfare Department, in collaboration with the District Administrative Centre, Pakyong, at Integrated Multi Purpose Community Hall, Pakyong, this morning.
This year's theme highlights yoga’s role in promoting physical, mental, and environmental well-being, aligning with global calls for sustainability and unity.
The event was graced by MLA Gnathang Machong cum Advisor, Social Welfare Department and Women, Child, Senior Citizen, and Person with Disabilities Welfare Department, Mrs Pamin Lepcha.
During the session, Chief Education Officer Mr Narayan Mishra, underscored the significance of yoga not only for physical well-being but also for mental and spiritual health. He urged everyone to practise yoga regularly, highlighting its long-term benefits.
The yoga session was led by a team of instructors, featuring yoga asanas, meditation, and breathing techniques, with demonstrations guided and explained by MO Ayush, Dr Kuljan Lama.
As part of the event, the official jersey of the Pakyong Yoga Club was unveiled.
Tokens of appreciation were presented to yoga instructors Mr CM Sharma and Ms Deepa Chettri in recognition of their contributions.
The session also had the presence of Also present were Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pakyong, Ms Paru Ruchal; Additional District Collector (HQ), Mr GL Meena; ADC (Dev), Mr Robin Pd Sewa and SDM (HQ), CMO Pakyong, Mr Madan Mani Dhakal, Mr Thendup Lepcha, DFO (T), Mr SP Bhutia, panchayat members, officials from various departments under the district, police personnel, NDRF personnel, members of Pakyong Yoga Club and general public.
