CM Flags Off 13 Resource Recovery Vehicles as Part of Sikkim Statehood Golden Jubilee

Gangtok, June 26 (IPR):
Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang officially flagged off 13 Mini Dumper Resource Recovery Vehicles during a function held at Manan Kendra, today.
The Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, handed over the vehicles to the Rural Development Department. The initiative, funded under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), aims to promote sustainable development and inclusive growth in the State.
The vehicles will be deployed in the following Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs):
1. Omchung GPU (Gyalshing District)
2. Ranka GPU (Ranka Block)
3. Rongay Tathangchen GPU, Chonga Ward (Nandok Block)
4. Maneybung Dentam GPU (Dentam Block)
5. Phensong GPU (Kabi Block)
6. Passingdong GPU (Passingdong Block)
7. Damthang GPU (Namchi Block)
8. Sangmu GPU (Ravongla Block)
9. Namphing GPU (Temi Block)
10. Namcheybung GPU (Namcheybong Block)
11. Samsing GPU (Pakyong Block)
12. Turung Mamring GPU (Namthang Block)
13. Naku Chumpong Development Society (Gyalshing District)
The vehicles will strengthen rural sanitation and solid waste management initiatives under the Swachh Bharat Mission in the state.
The flag off ceremony was attended by the Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly Mr MN Sherpa, Minister Social Welfare and Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare and Printing and Stationery Departments Mr Samdup Lepcha, Minister Rural Development and Cooperation Departments Mr Arun Kumar Upreti, Minister Health and Family Welfare and Culture Departments, Mr GT Dhungel, MLA-cum-Advisor Social Welfare and Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Departments Ms Pamin Lepcha, MLA-cum-Advisor Mr Tenzing Norbu Lamtha, Secretary Social Welfare Department Ms Sarika Pradhan, along with senior officials and representatives from the concerned departments.
The event was organised as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations of Sikkim’s Statehood.
